WhatAreKidsSaying.com is a website for kids and teens 18 years of age and under. Our mission is to provide youth worldwide with a platform for self-expression through creative writing and resources that will allow them to have a voice in society. We strive to be the best place on the internet where kids know they are free to speak their minds without judgment.
How is WhatAreKidsSaying.com different from other kids’ websites?
There are a lot of websites for kids, but none that really capture the ability to allow them to operate in a safe environment where they can have the privacy they want to write whatever is in their hearts and minds. Kids get recognition and gain respect from other kids from around the world through entering our writing contests.
What is a Time Capsule?
A Time Capsule is almost like having an online private locker that nobody can ever enter. In addition to writing, kids can also upload music, photos, and data without ever needing to worry about anyone intruding into their private space.
Who can see my Time Capsule?
No one may see or access your Time Capsule at any time. Your Time Capsule is your safe haven. It is your special place to vent, reflect, create, and express your ideas. You determine what writing samples can be viewed publicly.
How do I enter the WhatAreKidsSaying.com writing contests?
Each week WhatAreKidsSaying.com has writing contests available for kids ages 18 and under. Just click on “Contests” tab and view our step-by-step instructions on how to enter.
How do you choose the winners of the contests?
At WhatAreKidsSaying.com we don’t choose the winners of the writing contests, you do! Each week members and readers will go online to vote for which user they believe should be the winner based upon reading the entries.
What do I win?
Each winner will be recognized on the WhatAreKidsSaying.com homepage as the “Spotlight Writer” at the end of each contest period.
How do I view previous contest entries or winners?
Don’t worry; we won’t forget our contest champions! Each winner will be archived with their username, contest entered, and recognition date in our Past Winners section. Simply click on the “Past Winners” link to view the list.
How many times can I enter the writing contests?
Each member can submit one entry per contest per week. That means if you want to enter a writing sample each week for the rest of the year you can!
What is plagiarism?
That is a VERY good question. As writers it is very important that we don’t accidentally or intentionally borrow the works of others. Plagiarism is when you copy somebody else’s work and call it your own. If you use ideas from another place you must always give credit to the person who wrote it first.
Can I chat with other WhatAreKidsSaying.com users online?
No. WhatAreKidsSaying.com is not a social networking website and there is no interaction between users/members.
Is WhatAreKidsSaying.com safe for my kids?
Absolutely! WhatAreKidsSaying.com was created so that kids and parents would feel comfortable knowing they are using a secure website. In order to provide a unique “safe haven” for children, we do not provide one-on-one member communication or online chatting. We emphasize personal reflection writing which encourages any style of free writing.
Will everybody be able to see what I’m writing online?
No one will ever be able to read what you are writing in your personal Time Capsule unless you choose to make it a public file. It is important that you never reveal your password to anyone!
How can I personalize my WhatAreKidsSaying.com page to fit my style better?
